About The Venue

Bradford Rio's is a rock and alternative music club which was established in 1987 in the University area of the city - Woodhead Road, just off campus. The club was often referred to as Rio Campus because of its location. In the 20 years of trading, Bradford Rio's played host to a plethora of world class touring rock and metal acts as well as establishing some legendary club nights, consisting of many types of music. Rio's also provided a platform for local and national up and coming bands of all different styles.

The Rio's team also even opened a second premises at one stage called "The Market Tavern", which acted as a pre-bar and second stage, where many more bands could rock out.

In 2007, the Market Tavern and Woodhead Road premises closed their respective doors for the last time as the team relocated their main affairs to premises in Leeds, continuing the work they started in Bradford.

It was always the intention to open a smaller, additional nightclub in Bradford and after 18 months, Paul and the team have finally found the perfect premises.

In the autumn of 2009, Bradford Rio's is set to once again open its doors, this time at the new location of Barry Street.

Bradford Rio's is situated on Barry Street, almost directly opposite The Castle Hotel.

Regular Events

Wednesday: our Student night with the basic mad mix of music we had before:

  • Room 1: Metal, Cheese and everything else in between
  • Room 2: Indie Alternative. (student prices)

Thursday: a night that was at Bradford Uni called Hades (student prices).

Friday: Jagerclub. It is an absolutely awesome night

  • Room 2: 90's - not just Rock and Metal. We will be playing Grunge, Metal, Nu-metal, Alternative and Punk, balls out Rock and a bit of Industrial just to keep you all happy as Larry.
